It has been 8 months since we last checked in with the Beguns. When I posted them to my website in March of 2012, this Silicon Valley couple, Shari, the tech sales manager and Fred, the private practice lawyer, spoke about their choice to improve their health and quality of life through integrating a lifestyle of healthy eating and exercise into their busy everyday lives. Let’s see how they’ve done.
“After working out for several years, even though we eat healthy and work out more, we needed another approach to achieve some real weight loss and make serious changes. While we have both dieted before, we decided to go to Weight Watchers, and together it is almost easy.” Shari further said, “that the combination of reworking diet fundamentals along with the good activity and now we found a more manageable formula for real weight loss.”
Shari has lost almost 60 pounds and Fred has lost over 40 pounds, and they look great. In addition to training with me, the Beguns continue to do activities such as pilates, yoga, golf, and have now added Zumba to the rotation. It is another task of scheduling and making time for yourself and making time for activities together.
According to Fred, “you have to get fit, in order to get in shape, and then get in shape in order to be able to be active and enjoy life to its fullest. And that’s what we’ve done this year, and will do into the future.”
This year the Beguns also joined me for some low grade insanity by participating in the Quicksilver Half Marathon and 10k Trail Run. Never having done a trail event, their end of run comment was, “It was for a school charity, Almaden Quicksilver Park is very cool, and we didn’t finish last!”
